Stone-coated steel is a 28-gauge steel panel with an aluminum-zinc coating and a stone-granule finish — the look of shake with the strength of metal. It carries a Class 4 impact rating, the highest a roof can get, and has been uplift tested past 140 mph under Florida Product Approval FL#38136.
